Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, I was busy with the awesome life you assume I’m lacking. :)
Both admins of this blog are queer and fabulous, so I can’t deny the faggot part- although when I created this blog I specifically meant for it to be an oppression-free zone, so keep your homophobic slurs to yourself.
We are both native. Digatisdi is Cherokee, and I (from—her—to—eternity) am half Potawatomi. I am not sure of Digatisdi’s entollment status, nor am I concerned with it for reasons I will state in a minute. I am currently not eligible for enrollment because my nation’s requirements are much, much stricter than yours’. While you probably had to show that one of your ancestors was enrolled, I am required to prove that every single eligible ancestor of mine has been enrolled since 1924. Because my full-blooded father chose not to enroll (for personal reasons that I am respectful of) and as of yet has no intention of doing so, I am not enrolled.
But you know what? That’s okay. While some would agree that enrollment is what makes one native, I don’t feel any less connected to my community because I’m not on a list created by imperialists. Both digatisdi are dedicated to working with and within our respective communities and the indigenous community as a whole, studying tribal history (both ours and others across the Americas), and spreading awareness about native politics and current events. You couldn’t have picked two worse people on tumblr to accuse of having “no idea about native customs, laws, or politics.”
The funny thing is, if you hadn’t come at me with your “BLAH BLAH BLAH LONELY FAGGOT GET FRIENDS” attitude, I might have considered apologizing for my belligerence, but now I’m not really feeling too inclined to do so. Buh bye.
